Chemistry Teachers/Students
We interviewed some of the subject's teachers and we asked them questions about what students think of chemistry.
What are some of the most important skills taught in Chemistry by teachers?
The most important skills taught in chemistry is having the ability to use models to represent topics that are most useful and relevant to the subject. The skill can help you gain a greater understanding of how models can display important topics and how you can try to make one yourself.
Is chemistry hard for students?
Chemistry is not hard if you know the procedures to labs and how to do it. By observing in the Labs you do and making hypothesis (guesses on whats happening), memorizing and studying the formulas for ionic compounds, and Bohr Models, Chemistry is a no-brainer when it comes to tests. Although chemistry might have easy topics to study and simple tasks, it is better to study about them even after Chemistry because in futures grades, you will already know a lot about the topics and you can research more without having to worry that you dont understand one of the topics.
Who are the teachers?
The teachers that teaches chemistry are Ms Yun, Ms Dulay, and Ms Parmar.
What do students like about chemistry?
The students favorite part of chemistry are usually labs because of mixed compounds. And students think it is fun for them to wear lab equipment such as labs, test tubes, and chemicals.
How could chemistry benefit students in the future?
Chemistry has a lot of jobs including medical fields. science teacher, more science courses. (Will get more into that)
What is the most challenging part of chemistry for students and what strategies do they?
One thing that is challenging for students in chemistry is naming different types of compounds. To over come that organizer tables are helpful and figuring out what kind of compounds they are looking at can overcome that part.
What can students learn from Chemistry?
Students can learn how to be prepared when doing labs. Ex.

Coming prepared with the right clothing

Correct procedures when doing the lab.​

Getting pre-labs done before getting materials

Safety Procedures
Students will also learn how to make Bohr Models for each element on the periodic table, naming ionic compounds, writing formulas for compounds and much more involving around atoms and compounds. Covalent compounds and bonds are also a topic of chemistry which includes writing formulas and naming compounds.
What part of chemistry can be difficult for teachers to teach?
A difficult part of chemistry that could be difficult to teach are the mathematical aspects of the subject itself and having to calculate the answers for topics that involve around physical chemistry and organic chemistry could really take some time unless a scientific calculator is available.
